With an initial endowment of 3 M€, a new accelerator of the CDP Venture Capital Network is born in Taranto: Faros. It has several institutional and corporate partners and will select eight pre-seed and seed startups that work to safeguard the sea. The first call will close on February 15th.
The Faros accelerator program is aimed at startups operating in the field of port innovation, blue economy, blue growth and ocean industry who aim to implement processes, services and products according to a sustainable approach.
From now until 15 February 2022, start-ups can submit their application to take part in the first acceleration cycle scheduled to be launched in March 2022.
The programme benefits from the major support of Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mar Ionio – Porto di Taranto, as an institutional and territorial partner geared towards the global promotion of the Ionian port, as well as the relaunch of Taranto’s industrial-logistic and tourism system, and the Municipality of Taranto as an institutional partner.
With initial assets under management of approximately 3 million Euro allocated by CDP Venture Capital’s Accelerators Fund for acceleration investments and subsequent follow-ons post-acceleration, in addition to over 1 million Euro from corporate and institutional partners, the accelerator Faros aims to enhance the growth of start-ups that develop innovative products or solutions in the areas of port logistics and automation, the sustainable use of marine resources and coastal tourism, which represent sectors with great development potential.
What Faros accelerator offers
- Acceleration program (up to 16 weeks): Masterclass, one to one coaching, mentoring and stakeholder engagement.
- Open innovation activities for pilot projects: Corporate partners and startups will collaborate to test innovative solutions in the field, with the aim of building the foundations for a long-term business and a responsible impact on the environment.
- Pre-seed equity investment up to € 65,000: And potential seed and follow-on investments
